Introduction: Breast cancer is a malignant tumor formed by breast cells which grow and develop uncontrollably so that they can spread to the tissues or organs close to the breasts or to the other parts of the body. Sleep disorder is one of the problems faced by breast cancer patients. Aromatherapy is one of the very popular complementary and alternative therapies. Lavender essential oil usually used in aromatherapy has tranquilizing effect which can affect sleep quality and decrease stress. If sleep disorder is not immediately handled it can affect patients' quality of life. The objective of the research is to identify and evaluate the effects of lavender aromatherapy intervention on

Methods: The research employs quantitative method with randomized controlled trial with control group pretest-posttest design. The samples are made up of 50 stages III & IV breast cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy as respondents. The data are collected by using questionnaire on Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSO) consisting of 19 items of statements
Result: The gathered data are analyzed by using non-parametric test (Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney U Test). The result of the research shows that there is a difference in the mean value of anxiety between intervention group and control group in the post-intervention at p-value=0.005 (p<0.05). of the
