This study aims to examine the role of self-efficacy and social support on the academic stress of new female students in Medan. Academic stress is a negative response (distress) in students both cognitive, behavior, physical reactions and feelings. This research method uses a quantitative approach with multiple regression techniques. The subjects in this study amounted to 311 new female students who were taken by snowball sampling technique. Data was collected using the Academic Stress Scale, Self-Efficacy Scale, and Social Support Scale compiled by previous researchers. The results in this study indicate that self-efficacy and social support have a negative role in academic stress. In addition, self-efficacy and social support provide an effective contribution of 20% to female students in Medan.en_US
