Patient safety is the prevention of injury to the patient. In spite of the dangers,
injury prevention can be prevented as a result of medical treatment. Based on data
from the General Hospital H Adam Malik, the hospital service quality issues are
related to managerial aspects of the hospital, but relatively dominant is the field of
patient safety and the lack of health infrastructure to support patient safety. The
objectives of the study were to analyze the influence of the characteristics, knowledge,
and skills of nurses on inpatient safety at H Adam Malik Hospital Medan in 2015.
This research was a quantitative research using cross sectional design. The
population is all nurses who served in the inpatient unit in Room A and B amounted
to 249 people. The samples were 96 people. The data were collected by using the
· questionnaires and data analysis methods with univariate, bivariate analysis with chi
square test and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression.
The results show logistics education (95% Cl = 1.06-3.31 with RP 1.87),
duration of employment (95% CJ= 1.07-3.17 with RP 1.84), knowledge (95% CJ=
1.10- 1.lp-3.31 with RP 1.90), and skills (95% CJ= 1.16-3.60 with RP 2.50). The
effect on· the implementation of patient safety age does not affect the implementation
of patient safety. The results of multiple logistic regression have found that variables
influenced to the implementation of patient safety is education, Length of work,
knowledge and skills.
The general hospital center (RSUP) H Adam Malik needs to create
procedures for the implementation of the standard application procedure JCI on
patient safety by improving the education, knowledge and skills of nurses through
education and training (Training), so that nurses interact directly with patients can
apply optimal patient safety standards, and can support the achievement of
accreditation
