Backgroand: Anemia is a common complication in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis (HD). Increasing hepcidin levels in potients with CKD undergoing HD also allegedly played a role in the occurrence of anemia in patients wtth CKD. Increased hepcidin levels due to declining glomerular filtratian rate (GFR) and the inflammatory reaction caused by contact blood with membrane dialyzer. This is because of production hepcidin affecred by interleukin-6 (IL-6) leads to activstion of the janus kinase (JAK)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) pathway. InJlammatory reactions that occur during HD suspected to be suppressed when using more biocompatible dialyzer membranes. This study was conducted to see the dffirences in the levels of IL-6 and hepcidin at the time of screening, before HD (preHD) and after HD (post HD) after regular HD for min 2 weelu as well as the correlation of hepcidin with IL-6 at the time of screening, in patients with CKD undergoing HD. Methods: The sample was taking from pre and post test ogsinst 11 people CKD patients undergoing HD, aged 33-86 years. The sample was taken from Clinical Specialist Kidney and Hypertension Rosyida and Dialysis Centre of RSUP dr. Pirngadi, Medan. The sampling of serum was done in three times, namely when screening patients before first HD, pre and postHD after 2 weeks of regular HD. Dialyzer membrane used is poly (vinyl phenol) -polyeter sulfone, low-flux. The data obtainedwere analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Spearman test. Results: From the analysis of the data shows that the levels of IL-6 did not differ at the time of screening and preHD @ : 0.426) and as well as preHD and postHD (p : 0.062). Hepcidin levels did not diff", at the time of sueening and preHD (p -- 0.245) and as well as preHD and postHD A, : 0.374). There were no correlations hepcidinwith IL-6 at the time of screening (r:0.036; p:0.915), preHD (r : 0.036; p : 0.915) and postHD (r : 0.547; p : 0.081). Conclusion: Based on the analysis concluded that the use of more biocompatible diolyzer membranes can reduce inflammatory reactions that occur during the process of HD, so the production of hepcidin can be reduced.en_US
