dc.description.abstractThere are some of the corrosion shape that could occur on equipment as pitting corrosion, erosion corrosion, LMF corrosion, Microbiocide induce corrosion, Stress corrosion cracking (SCC), etcetera. Mostly of corrosion problem that facing in industrial is stress corrosion cracking, this problem could occur due to the three factors for this corrosion are facilitated as stress, the corrosive environment, the material susceptibility, and this three factors are the typical of the operating requirement. On this paper will be discussed about the research of stress corrosion cracking that occur on materials of austenite stainless steel type AISI 304, /\ISi 316, AISI 316L on environment of fatty acid with different chloride content. The austenite stainless steel is alloy of nickel, and chromium, with crystai shape of face centered cubic (FCC), but anyhow for getting the cetiain resistance some of alloy could be added as Molybdenum, Manganese, and others. · The SCC problem is observed base on the SCC cracking of this austenite stainless steel type AISI 304, AIS! 316, AISI 3 l 6L, when it was used on oleochemicals industrial. The result of this research will indicate the effect of chloride concentration and fatty acid to SCC that wi II occur on this material that lastly will fail. The experiment will be done by giving two different load for the specimens of0.5 Ys, and 0.7 Ys and the solution temperature will be kept constantly on 150 "C. The explanation will be based on crack characteristic that occur on this material base on the crack length, progressive crack speed, and material microstructure of the crack. The crack characteristic will be drawn as curves that will be comparing between one material with other material, with different stress, and different chloride concentration. From the failure, and crack characteristic analytical will show the function of alloy that exist on this materials, and how far the alloy will improve the material resistance to environment corrosion. The failure of this material could be as intergranular, or transgranular stress corrosion cracking. The conclusion from this research shown the susceptibility of this material on environment of Fatty acid+ Chloride, and will indicate whether this material properly to be use on this environment or any need the material engineering for improving the performance.en_US
