dc.description.abstract4-Hidroxy-4-methyl-2-pentanone resulted from acetone condensation could be esterified with decanoic anhydride using cobalt (II) chloride as catalyst to produce 4-(4-methyl-2-pentanonil) decanoic. Ketalization of 4-(4- methyl-2-pentanonil) decanoic with glycerol produce 2-methyl-2-(2-t-butyl decano)-yl-4-hidroxy methyl-1,3-dioksolan that has surfactant properties with HLB 3.6. Each step of reaction was monitored by TLC and the products were confirmed by spectroscopic FT-IR, 1H-NMR and GC-MS.en_US
