dc.description.abstractOleic acid can be oxidized by KMnQ4 to form 1, 9-nonanenoic acid which can be esterified by n-butanol. Dibutyl ester nonanenoic can be reduced by Na dissolved in n-butanol to form 1,9-nonanediol, then was eterified by a-monochlorohydrin to form 1-(propoxy diol 2,3)-9-nonanol. It is a surfactant for emulsifying (w/o). The HLB value is 5,09 .. ~-Monochlorohydrin can be formed by chlorination of glycerol by HCI (g) and acetic acid as catalyst. The reaction results were confirmed by analysis of FT-IR and 1HNMR where needed.en_US
