Abstract
High speed driving is a major factor in the cause of traffic accidents. therefore the existence of speed limiting equipment to suppress the amount of accident is very important. speed limiting system for cars already available in the market, but for motorcycles not yet available. In designing a speed reminder tool on a motorcycle uses several components such as Power Supply to supply the entire system, Liquid Cristal Display (LCD) as the display output, ATMega8 for the entire system controlling center, DC motor as a speed source, light sensor (Optocoupler) as speed detector , Voice Module works in processing sound, Speaker serves as output (sound producer). This study aims to create an ATMega8 microcontroller based motorcycle speed bike safe for motorcyclists. in this tool, the maximum speed settings will be programmed into the microcontroller (ATMega8), then motorcycle speed is displayed on the Liquid Cristal Display (LCD) screen and if the speed of the rider has reached or exceeded the speed limit set, so the tool is expected to reduce the accident rate on motorcycles.
