dc.description.abstractIndonesia is a large country with large population. This condition brings challenges in evenly distribute education’s access and quality. One of the concerns is high order thinking skills (HOTS) in students, which is a very important skills to have in the 21st century. It can be shown in the results achieved by Indonesian student in PISA 2018. Compared to all three subjects assessed, Indonesia students’ reading literacy had the lowest average score form all OECD countries. Moreover, with its society’s various socioeconomic status (SES), adding more challenges in achieving the goals in improving the education. Therefore, this study is aiming to see the role of Indonesia students’ SES on their HOTS by using PISA reading literacy scores. The result shows there is no significant role of students’ SES on HOTS.en_US
