This research is a descriptive study that aims to see the description of the
stages of moral development of students who follow and do not take part in Islamic
spirituality extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri Medan. The stages of moral
development are a measure of a person's moral high and low based on his moral
development. The research subjects were 100 students, namely 50 students who took
part in Islamic spiritual extracurricular activities and 50 students who did not
participate in Islamic spiritual extracurricular activities. This study uses the Moral
Development Scale compiled by Fajriah (2017) based on aspects of Kohlberg's
(1981) moral development which consists of 33 items. Data analysis was carried out
using descriptive statistical calculations. The results of this study showed that from
100 subjects there were 84 subjects that were not categorized and only 16 subjects
could be categorized for their moral development, including students who took part in
Islamic spiritual extracurricular activities, there were 2% who were at the postconventional
stage of moral development. Meanwhile, in the pre-conventional stage it
is 3% and in the conventional stage it is 1%. Of students who do not take part in
Islamic spiritual extracurricular activities, there are 4% who are in the postconventional
stage. Meanwhile, at the pre-conventional stage it was 3% and at the
conventional stage it was 3%. The moral development of the subjects in this study did
not develop in accordance with the theory proposed by Kohlberg.
