| dc.description.abstract | Kidney stones (nephrolithiasis) is the state of one or more stones in the pelvis or calyx of the kidneys. About 80% of the stones consist of calcium, the rest contains several elements, including uric acid, cystine and struvite minerals. Mahkota dewa is a plant rich in flavonoids. Flavonoids are secondary metabolites that can shed calcium oxalate crystals and repair kidney damage. Flavonoids bind calcium and repair kidney damage due to calcium oxalate crystals.
This study was conducted in vitro antinephrolithiasis test, calcium oxalate was incubated in a concentration extract of 0,25; 0,5; and 1% for 5 hours then measured calcium levels in solution. In vivo test, rats were performed by giving 0,75% ethylene glycol and 2% ammonium chloride in mice as much as 1% BW in rat orally for 10 days, then ethanol extract of Phaleria macrocarpa 100, 200, and 400 mg / kg BW for 10 days. Then measured levels of calcium, creatinine value, urea value, and histopathologic renal rat test.
The results showed that ethanol extract of Phaleria macrocarpa had antinephrolithiasis effect in vitro and in vivo, ie at dose 400 mg/kg BW value of calcium level of 1,99 mg/g was significantly different with negative control group (p<0,05). The results of creatinine and urea measurements of dose group 400 mg/kg BW of creatinine 0,33 mg/dl and urea 58,8 mg/dl were significantly different with negative group (p<0,05).
The results of ethanol extract of Phaleria macrocarpa have antinephrolithiasis and antinephrotoxic effect in vitro and in vivo. | en_US |
