dc.description.abstract | This research has been done from January to August 2009 at the Genetics Laboratory
of FMIPA USU, Central Research Molecular Biology of Palm Oil Marihat, Quantity
Laboratory of Pharmacy Faculty USU, and Food Chemistry of Agriculture Faculty
USU. The aim was to study “The Morphology Characteristic and Activities of
Polyphenol Oxidase and Peroxidase Enzyme in Plant Organs of Sidempuan
Salacca (Salacca sumatrana var. Sidempuan)”. The results showed that defense
mechanism and protecting diseases occur in the plants. This research used method to
study the activity of polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and peroxidase (PO) in leaves and
stem of Salacca, protein determination, and the description of that plants. The results
showed that the highest value of activities from Peroxidase is A 0,00456 from Huta
Lambung village’s and the lowest is H 0,00283 from Sibakua village’s. The highest
value of activities from Polyphenol Oxidase is D 0,00463 from Sibakua village’s and
the lowest is B 0,00284 from Huta Lambung village’s. Physics factor from the two
village showed the highest value of temperature, dampness and pH is from Sibakua
village’s and the highest value of chemical factor from Huta Lambung village’s. From
the results indicated that Salacca from Sibakua village’s is better than Huta Lambung. | en_US |
