Dengue Haemorrahagic Fever (DI-IF) is recognized as one of the infected
diseases which might attack children and adult. DHF is spread out all over
Indonesia which needs attention seriously because it results in epidemics. At
Tanjung Morawa there are 40 cases of DHF (19.6%), 2.94% mortality rate, and it
attacks age grQup of 15-44 years ( 42.5),and 65 % of male.
The study intends to analyze DHF at the endemic and non-endemic area at
Tanjung Morawa, year 2005. This reseach is an observational analityc study with
cross sectional design of 242 total sample. The collecting data was conducted by a
structured interview through questionaire and direct obsevation; the data are
analyzed by univariat, bivariat and multivariat tests.
The result of the research shows that there is a significant relationship among
education, profesion, knowledge, action, attitude on hanging clothes, frequency of
the draining of TPA (Tempat Penampungan Air), the uses of reppelent, and the kind
of the TP A at the endemic and non endemic area. There is no significant relationship
among the use of a burning anti mosquito. the :;ourcc of clean water and the
cleanness of yard to the DI-IF at the endemic and non endcmic area. Ba.~d on a
multivariat test, it is known that the most dominant factor relating to the category of
area ( endemic and non endemic) is the variable of profession.
It is suggested to increase counseling to the public regarding the efforts to
prevent the DHF through non-government organization or youth organizations. The
authority should implement a properl socialization to how to use repplent, since the
DHF at Tanjung Morawa seemly tends to take place a lot, especially to those who
go out of Tanjung Morawa for their jobs.
