| dc.description.abstract | The effort of preventing lung function disorder caused by the ozone
exposure to wards the operator of package drinking-water at PT "X", currently are
in the forms of supplying and using of PPE, routine and continuous training and
medical check-up which covers initial, periodical and special examinations. The
objective of this study is to evaluate the level of success of the efforts of the
prevention which has been carried out currently
This analytical descriptive study employs survey method with cross
sectional approach to 20 workers. The level of ozone in the work environment at
the filler of 240 ml, 600 ml, 1500 ml, 5 gallon line 1, and 5 gallon line 2
altogether exceeds the predetermined level value of 0.2 mg/m3
• The result of study
reveals that 5 workers (25%) develop lung function disorder but the result of
statistic test does not show any significant relationship between the efforts of
prevention (PPE p = 0.197, training p = 0.606, medical check-up p = 0.197) and
the incidence of lung function disorder. The level of success of the efforts of
prevention through using the Personal Protective Equipment is good, and through
training and medical check-up is good enough
It is recommended that the efforts of prevention should be done in the
forms of a routine work environment monitoring and evaluation, maintaining the
use PPE while working, to increase and improve training frequency and medical
check-up especially the initial and periodical the examination of the worker's lung
