Pandan General Hospital is an extension of an in-patient community health
center whose status has been changed into a General Hospital. With this change of
status, it is expected that the performance of Pandan General Hospital will be better
that an appropriate leadership style and high motivation of its employees are needed.
The existing problem at this hospital is that its relatively low utilization shows
its low performance can be resulted from several factors such as leadership style and
motivation.
The aims of this study are to analyze the influence of leadership style and
motivation and the dominant factor influencing the performance of employees
working for Pandan General Hospital.
This study employs the survey explanatory method. The data were collected
through distributing questionnaires supported by interviews and field observation the
population for this study is all low-level employees (55 persons) working for Pandan
General Hospital but only 47 of them were selected to be the samples for this study.
The data were analyzed through double linear regression.
The linear regression demonstrates that the style of leadership and motivating
employed are the two factors, of those studied, that most influence work force
performance at Pandan Hospital. A considerate leadership style is found to be most
effective whit B of 0,268.
To enhance the officials' performance in Pandan Hospital, it is suggested to
apply appropriate managerial style and adjusted with the condition of officials. Also,
it is necessary to enhance the motivation through opportunity appreciation system
giving for the sake of enhancing the knowledge and incentive giving. To the
management party of Pandan Hospital and local government of Middle Tapanuli, it
should perform analysis of needs to the officials required in Pandan Hospital.
