Various kinds of street food with the aroma and delicious taste are sometimes so tempting for the school age children while there may be dangerous chemical materials behind them. Diarrhea resulted from these kinds of street food can be caused by the unclean and E-coli contaminated food. According to the data of2006,there were 2,636 (75,04%) cases of diarrhea in Bosar Maligas sub-district of Simalungun. This rate of diarrhea incident was higher than the total number of diarrhea cases occurred in 33 sub-distric in the work area of Simalungun District whose average rate of diarrhea cases were less than 60%. The purpose of this observational study with cross - sectional design is to analyze the relationship between street food consumption and the incident of diarrhea and nutrient status of the elementary school students in Simalungun District in 2008. The population for study is all of the elementary school students from Grade IV to Grade VI studying at 4 (four) state elementary schools (Boiuk, Parbutaran, Sidojadi, and Bosar Maligas) in Bosar Maligas sub - District. The samples for this study were selected through proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed through Chi-square test at a= 0,05 . The result of this study reveals that the street food consumed by the elementary school students has not met the standart recommended, namely, the street food consumed contribute 17,30% of total energy, but the street food consumed by the elementary school students generally contain e-coli bacteria. Based on the statistical analysis, it is found out that there is a relationship uetween the street food consumption and the incident of di::irrhea (p= 0,043) and relationship between the incident of diarrhea and nutrient status BB/U (p = 0,034) TB/U (p=0,014) BB/TB (p=0,041 ). The more street food consumed by the elementary school students, the bigger the chance they will have to suffer from diarrhea. The street food sold at the elementary schools generally contain e-coli bacteria that have a chance to be the cause of the incident of diarrhea. It is suggested that the school have to provide hygienes cafeteriaen_US
