Infections that occur during a person is admitted to the hospital and began to
show a person's symptoms during treatment or after being treated are called
nosocomial infections. WHO study showed that about 8. 7% of the 55 Hospital from
14 countries from Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific remains indicate a
nosocomial infection and in Southeast Asia as much as 10. 0%. The purpose of this
study was to analyze the influence of knowledge and attitudes of nurses on the
implementation of the prevention of nosocomial infections in the inpatient hospital
grade Ill in Haji Hospital Medan. This research is a descriptive analytic using cross
sectional survey design that taken place for 3 (three) months from October 2012 until
December 2012. The population in this study were all nurses third class wards are
numbered 32 people and all of them were subjected to experiments. Data obtained
using a questionnaire. Data analysis using logistic regression test. The results
showed that the variables significantly influence nosocomial infection prevention are
knowledge variable and attitudes. The most dominant variables that influence is
variable knowledge. Therefore it is expected to further enhance the training of
prevention of nosocomial infection to the nurses because of the knowledge has a
significant influence on prevention of nosocomial infections
