dc.description.abstractGlucose 6 Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD) is an extremely important enzyme for the life of erythrocyte. This enzyme deficiency can cause the instability of erythrocyte which leads to the lysis of erythrocyte resulting in the occurrence of anaemia haemolytic. One of the possible ways to detect the erythrocyte abnormality due to this enzyme deficiency is by peripheral blood smear. The image obtained shows the presence of Bite cell as a result of the partially loss of the erythrocyte membrane due to spleen macrophage activity. The purpose of this research is to examine the relation between the G6PD deficiency with the image of Bite cell in erythrocyte. The research was done by a cross sectional study with 35 patients suffering from G6PD deficiency (23 males and 12 females) which was carried out in the Multidiscipline Laboratorium in USU medical faculty and Clinical Pathology Department in H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan. The production of peripheral blood smear was done slimly with Giemsa staining and it showed the presence of Bite cell per 1000 erythrocytes. The data obtained was analyzed by Anova, Kolmogorov-Smirnov dan Kruskal-Wallis by using SPSS 11,5 computer program. There was evidence of the image of Bite cell in 26 patients suffering from enzyme G6PD deficiency (74,3%), there was no significant difference in the overall Bite cell distribution according to gender (p=0,902) and age (p=0,644), and also in the average of enzyme G6PD activity according to the stage where Bite cell was found (p = 0,935)en_US
dc.description.abstractEnzim Glukosa 6 Fosfat Dehidrogenase (G6PD) merupakan enzim yang sangat penting bagi kelangsungan hidup eritrosit. Defisiensi ensim ini dapat menyebabkan terganggunya stabilitas dari eritrosit sehingga eritrosit mudah menjadi lisis dan selanjutnya dapat terjadi anemia hemolitik. Salahsatu pemeriksaan yang dapat mendeteksi bahwa telah terjadi gangguan pada eritrosit akibat kekurangan enzim ini adalah dengan hapusan darah tepi. Gambaran yang didapat berupa munculnya sel Bite akibat hilangnya sebagian dari membran eritrosit setelah terjadi aktifitas dari macrophage limpa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat hubungan defisiensi enzim G6PD dengan gambaran sel Bite pada eritrosit. Penelitian dilakukan secara cross sectional study dengan non probabiliy consecutive sampling pada 35 penderita defisiensi enzim G6PD (23 laki-laki dan 12 wanita) yang dilakukan di Laboratorium Terpadu FK USU dan Departemen Patologi Klinik RS H. Adam Malik Medan. Dilakukan pembuatan hapusan darah tepi secara tipis dengan pewarnaan Giemsa dan dinilai adanya sel Bite per 1000 eritrosit. Data yang diperoleh dianalisa dengan uji statistik Anova, Kolmogorov-Smirnov dan Kruskal-Wallis dengan mempergunakan program computer SPSS 11,5. Didapat gambaran sel Bite pada 26 orang penderita defisiensi enzim G6PD (74,3%), tidak ada perbedaan rerata sebaran sel Bite menurut jenis kelamin (p=0,902) dan menurut umur (p=0,644) serta tidak dijumpai perbedaan rata-rata aktivitas enzim G6PD menurut tingkatan dijumpainya sel Bite (p = 0,935)en_US
