The purpose of this study is to describe the level of teamwork and to explain
the influence of the characteristics of staff (the factors of education level, length of
working, age, sex, and marital status) on the teamwork in the Public Health Center in
the District of Tapanuli Selatan.
Designed as an explanatory survey, this study was carried out in l0 Public
Health Center in the District of Tapanuli Selatan involving 100 respondents and
trough the simple random sample method, l0 respondents were selected from each
Public Health Center for the samples of this study. The data were obtained through
distributing questionnaires and analyzed by means of multiple linear regression test:
The result of this study reveals that the level of staff teamwork in the Public
Health Center is still low with mean point of 124.52 or 65.54%o of the total score
teamwork (190 points). that is mean the mode of team is pseudo team. Based on the
multiple linear regression test, it is found out that the factors marital status with p-
value : 0.022 and B= (t.562 ; of level of education has a significant influence with p-
value = 0.000 and []'= 2.928 ; sex with p-value :0,030 and p : -2.351; length of work
with p-value : 0.01 4 and 0 : -0,688. The factors of the characteristics of staff on the
teamwork in the Public Health Center gives its contribution to the teamwork with
(R') = 0.284 or only 2l,4Yo,remaining percentage is determined by the other factors.
Marital status is influence participation, task orientation, an objective, level of
education is influence task orientation, support for new ideas and objective. Sex is
influence participation, task orientation and support for new ideas, length of working
is influence support for new ideas.
It is suggested that the staff in the Public Health Center be re-staffed and re-
composed, they should be given an education and training. The new staff
should not
get married until he or she completes his or her first 3-years worked. To avoid the
boring of the staff is tour of duty. The organization should be developed tough the
Building Learning Organization (BLO), and another supporting efforts
