Chives ( Allium schoenoprasum L. ) is a long-lived plants which are very easy to grow . This plant is known as the vegetable of the Liliaceae family . All parts of the chives edible . Chives can also be used fresh or boiled as part of spice in cooking . Chives leaves contained a variety of phytochemical compounds included alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, steroids, tannins and various minerals such as potassium, magnesium and sodium. The most highest contain was potassium which is believed to dissolve calcium oxalate in kidney stones. The aims of this study was to determine the solubility of calcium oxalate by in vitro and in The in vitro method was dissolving calcium oxalate in a variety of chives leaves infuse which was incubated at 37oC for 4 hours, while the in vivo method was using animal model and induced by 0.75% ethylene glycol and 2% ammonium chloride. The animal model divided into 6 groups : Normal group, negative control, positive control, Pl (LDKS), P2 (LDKK) and P3 (LDKD). Groups of Pl, P2 and P3 added by a variety of chives leaves infuse. The parameters investigated are the kidney shape, kidney colour, ratio of kidney weight, and the histopathological of kidney tissue, The minerals content was measurement using atomic absorption spectrophotometty. Results of in vitro studies showed that all variety of chives leaves infuse can dissolve calcium oxalate which the highest solubility was using the dried chives leaves infuse, which can be seen from the level of dissolved calcium at 56.796 g/ml. with 5.68 % solubility percentage. While the data of in vivo studies showed that P2 (LDKK) group was the most effective in dissolve the kidney stone and able to reduce the kidney weight ratio. The conclusion of this study was chives leaves infuse proved on dissolving the kidney stone calcium compounds both of in vitro or in vivo. These studies prove that the infusion of chive leaves can be the alternative to kidney stone prevention.en_US
