    Abstract
Background : Ory eye is a multifactorial disease of the tears and ocular surface that results in symptoms of discomfort, visual disturbance and tear instability with potential damage to the ocular surface. It is accompanied by increased osmolarity of the tear film and inflammation of the ocular surface. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of dry eye. Poor glycemic control in diabetic patients will increase the incidence of dry eye. Purpose : To evaluate the association between dry eye severity and diabetes duration and association between dry eye severity and glycohemog/obin (HbA 1 CJ value in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods : This is an observational research using cross sectional methods. Res1Jlt : There is a significant correlation between the severity degree of dry eye with diabetes duration either by examination with Schirmer 1 or TBUT (p=0.001). There is a significant correlation in TBUT examination result between the severity of dry eye and HbA 1 C value (p=0. 00). Diabetes and dry eye appear to have common association. Conclusion: DM is one of the risk factor that cause dry eye. It can be seen through the significant association between dry eye severity and diabetic duration
