    Abstract
Pulmonary diseases are one of the causes of deaths in society. There are five major pulmonary diseases that cause death. They are pulmonary infection, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary tuberculosis, pulmonary cancer and asthma. These respiratory diseases generally affect patients' sleep. The bad sleep quality of the patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is resulted from the dyspnea, cough, and the excessive production of secretion. Meanwhile as for patients with asthma their sleep quality is declined due to cough, dyspnea and wheezing at nights. Inadequate sleep will lead to physical and psychological disorders. This research was aimed at observing the relationship among the complaints regarding dyspnea, fatique, cough and psychological factors with the sleep quality of patients with pulmonary disease at Arifin Achmad General Hospital, Pekanbaru. This research was a correlation analytical study with sectional cross design involving 56 respondents. Method sampling is no probability sampling with consecutive sampling. The instruments used in this research was questionnaire consisting of respondents characteristic, respiratory complaints including dyspnea, fatique, cough and psychological factors comprising anxiety and depression. Analize statistic used spearman and pearson . Results showed thatmost of the respondents (660%) demonstrated bad sleep quality The analytical results showed that dyspnea and sleep quality were not highly correlated with correlation value of r = 0.652 and significant value of 0.000. Meanwhile, the correlation between fatique and sleep quality was found to be moderate with correlational value of r = 0.447 and significant value 0.001. Cough and sleep quality were found to be strongly correlated with correlational value of r = 0.686 and significant value of 0.005. Finally, another strong correlation was also indicated between depression and sleep quality with correlation correlational value of r = 0,642 and significant value of 0.000. In conclusion cough had strong relationship with sleep quality. Therefore, it is suggested nurses give special attention to the patients with dyspnea fatique, cough, anxiety and depression as well as provide proper nursing action to eliminate these factors.
