dc.description.abstractMSG causes stress oxidative by formatting free radicals which decrease ascorbic acid level in testis and sperm count. Vitamin C as an antioxidant will neutralize free radicals. Taking vitamin C prevents decreasing MDA and ascorbic acid level in testis and sperm count. The aim of this study is investigating effect of taking vitamin C to MDA, ascorbic acid level in testis and sperm count of adult male mice (Mus musculus, L.) which exposed by MSG. Subject of this study was 25 adult male mice (Mus Musculus, L) strain DD Webster fertile, ±3 months old, 25-35 gram and divided 5 groups. First group is given 0,3 ml NaCl 0,9% intraperitoneal (ip) for 30 days, second group is given MSG 4 mg/g BW in 0,3 ml NaCl 0,9% (ip) first 15 days, 15 days later is given NaCl, third group is given MSG 30 days, fourth group is given MSG first 15 days and 15 days later is given 0,2 mg/g BW vitamin C in 0,3 ml aquadest orally and.fifth group is given MSG first 15 days and 15 days later plus vitamin C. Experimental procedures confirmed to the strict guidelines of institutional ethics committee USU Measuring MDA and ascorbic acid level using spectrophotometer and sperm count using Improved Neubauer counting chamber. There was no significant difference MDA and ascorbic acid level mean in testis and sperm count mean, which means taking MSG and vitamin C combined or separated is not affected MDA, ascorbic acid level in testis and sperm counten_US
dc.description.abstractMonosodium Glutamate (MSG) menyebabkan stress oksidatif ditandai terbentuknya radikal bebas berupa peningkatan kadar malondialdehyde (MDA) yang berakibat penurunan kadar asam askorbat dalam testis dan jumlah sperma. Vitamin C sebagai antioksidan akan menetralisir radikal bebas. Pemberian vitamin C dapat menurunkan kadar MDA dan mencegah penurunan kadar asam askorbat dalam testis dan jumlah sperma. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh pemberian vitamin C terhadap kadar MDA, kadar asam askorbat dalam testis dan jumlah sperma mencit jantan dewasa (Mus musculus, L.) yang diberikan MSG. Subjek penelitian mencit jantan dewasa (Mus musculus, L.) strain DD Webster fertil, ±3 bulan, 25-35 gram, 25 ekor dibagi 5 kelompok masing-masing 5 ekor. Kelompok pertama diberi NaCl 0,9% 0,3 ml intraperitoneal (ip) selama 30 hari, kelompok ke-dua diberi MSG 4 mg/g bb dalam 0,3 ml NaCl 0,9% (ip) 15 hari pertama dan 15 hari berikutnya NaCl, kelompok ke-tiga diberi MSG 30 hari, kelompok ke-empat diberi MSG 15 hari pertama dan 15 hari berikutnya vitamin C 0,2 mg/g bb dalam 0,3 ml aquadest oral, kelompok ke-lima diberi MSG 15 hari pertama dan 15 hari berikutnya ditambah vitamin C. Penelitian mendapat persetujuan komite etik penelitian USU. Pemeriksaan kadar MDA dan kadar asam askorbat menggunakan spektrofotometer dan jumlah sperma menggunakan kamar hitung Improved Neubauer. Dari hasil diperoleh perbedaan rata:-rata jumlah kadar MDA, kadar asam askorbat dalam testis dan jumlah sperma· pada tiap kelompok perlakuan tetapi perbedaan tidak bermakna (p>0,05), ini menunjukkan pemberian MSG dan vitamin C sendiri-sendiri maupun bersamaan tidak mempengaruhi kadar MDA, kadar asam askorbat dalam testis dan jumlah spermaen_US
