In vitro antimicrobial activity of ethanol stems and leaves extract of
Evodia (Euodia ridleyi Horch.) has been conducted. The purpose is to study
component of secondary metabolites stems and leaves extract of Euodia ridleyi,
antimicrobial activity of the extract against S. mutans, S. dysenteriae and C.
albicans and minimum inhibitory concentration against these microorganisms.
This research was conducted using extract concentration 0, 5, 10, 20, and 40%.
DMSO used as negative control, chloramphenicol and nystatin used as positive
control. Extract of Euodia ridleyi were made maceration method and
antimicrobial activity was tested by disc diffusion method. The results showed
that stems and leaves of Euodia ridleyi Horch. contains alkaloid, flavonoid,
steroid, terpenoid, and saponin. Both stems and leaves inhibits the growth of S.
mutans, S. dysenteriae, and C. albicans. Minimum inhibitory concentration of
ethanol extract stems of Euodia ridleyi against S. mutans and S. dysenteriae is 2%,
whereas for C. albicans is 4%. Minimum inhibitory concentrations of ethanol
extract leaves of Euodia ridleyi against S. mutans, S. dysenteriae, and C. albicans
is 2, 5 and 3% respectively.
