dc.description.abstract2-butyl palmitate has been synthesized by reacting palmitic acid and 2-butanol at 100 ° C for 10 hours and at a temperature of 150oC for 15 hours using 1,2-dimethyl- 1,1,2,2-tetrafenil disilan sulfonate catalyst with maximum yield 48%. FT-IR spectrum of 2-butyl palmitate showed absorbance at 1743.90 cm-1 attribute for C = O vibrational stretching by ester group and the absorbance at 1377.57 cm-1 and 1176.65 cm-1 attribute for CO vibrational derived from fatty acid esters. 1H-NMR spectrum showed a chemical shift at 4.83 ppm (m) which shows the proton of the-O-CH (CH3)- CH2-, which is a proton of a secondary carbon. Both of the FT-IR spectrum and 1HNMR spectrum indicate that fatty acid ester compounds with alkyl groups of secondary alcohols has been succesfully synthezied.en_US
