dc.description.abstract | Diabetes mellitus is a disorder of glucose endocrine insufficiency. The
duration of treatment lasts longer because it sought antidiabetic drugsderived from
plants, one pumpkin that had long since been consumed by the public as everyday
foods such as cooked vegetables, cooked so compote, boiled and steamed.
Previous research has proved that pumpkins have hypoglycemic activity.
For that research flesh and seeds of pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata) to view the
ethanol extract pumpkin flesh (EEPF), ethanol extract pumpkin seeds (EEPS),
steamed pumpkin flesh (STPF) and pumpkin seeds dried (PSD) which showed
activity decrease in blood glucose levels (BGL) is optimal.
The study begins with manufacture simplisia then extracted by using 80%
ethanol, rotari evaporator, friesh drier followed phytochemical screening and
characterization of extract. Animal experiments STZ induced, check the BGL,
divided 14 groups that carboxymethilcelulosa control group (CMC) 0,5%, the
positive control suspension metformin 65 mg/kg BW, 12 test group EEPF, EEPS,
STPF and PSD each divided three doses 100, 150 and 200 mg/kg BW. Data were
analyzed by ANOVA and different test average Duncan.
Skrinning results indicate flavanoids, saponin, tannin and steroids. The
characterization resulis EEPF, EEPS, STPF and PSD obtained water content of
3,3; 1,19; 9,5; 5,6 %. Total ash content of 6,3; 1,4; 7,0; 1,6 %. Acid insoluble ash
conient of 0,56; 0,09; 0,69; 0,17 %. Levels of soluble extract ethanol 50; 54; 51;
37%. Levels of water soluble extract 40,8; 86,2; 61,2 %.
Activities BGL same decline with metformin doses of 65 mg/kg BW is
STPF dose of 200 mg/kg BW. The decline in BGL faster than metformin is EEPS
dose of 100 mg/kg BW. EEPF and PSD dose of 150 mg/kg BW. The normally
BGL is EEPF and PSD dose of 150 mg/kg BW and STPF dose of 200 mg/kg BW
starting from day 7 through day 11. statistical analysis showed that EEPF, EEPS,
STP and PSD provide significant difference with metformin. | en_US |
