Hubungan Komunikasi Terapeutik Perawat dengan Kualitas Pelayanan Keperawatan

Abstract

Therapeutic communication performed by nurses is an attempt to improve the quality of nursing service. This research aims to identify correlation between nurses' therapeutic communication and nursing service quality, by using Correlation Study research method. The result on 119 adults hospitalized at Sari Mutiara General Hospital Medan that selected through purposive sampling technique and analized with Spearman Rank showed that there was a relationship between nurses' therapeutic communication and nursing service quality with Tcount (0.512) > Ttable (0.176) and the valaue of probability (p) = 0.000 < 0.05. For the variables of therapeutic communication, 67 persons (56.3%) were on the ineffective category and 52 persons (43.7%) were in the effective category. For the variable of nursing service quality, 61 persons (51.3%) said that the quality of service provided was in adequate category while 52 persons (43.7%) said it was in high category and 6 persons (5.0%) said it was in low category. The management of the hospital was suggested to organize continuous trainings on therapeutic communication for the nurses that nursing service quality produced becomes increasingly high.
