Has conducted research on the effect of temperature on the extraction of silica from the
ashes of palm kernel shells. ash shell in purified with hydrochloric acid which aims to
minimize other minerals contained in the ashes of palm kernel shells. Silica obtained
from the ashes of palm shells were extracted with sodium hydroxide followed by re precipitation using hydrochloric acid to obtain silica and large surface area. FT-IR data
obtained have similarities with commercial silica. XRD diffractogram also showed a
widened peak in the area 22,0o
showed that shaped amorphous silica. The results of
nitrogen adsorption desorption isotherm of silica at calcination temperature of 300oC,
500oC, 700 ° C shows the adsorption isotherm Type IV and at a temperature of 900oC is
an adsorption desorption isotherm type V which is characteristic of mesoporous
material and pore size distribution obtained at the calcination temperature to 300oC
between 1.72 to 6, 28 nm, temperature of 500oC between 1.73 to 47.20 nm, 700°C is
1.72 to 8.95 nm, and the calcination temperature of 900oC 1.79 to 41.73nm. As well as
