dc.description.abstract | Timber is main raw material used by PT Toba Pulp Lestari Mill (TPL) in processing of pulp and paper. The species of used is eucalyptus, because this species of wood contains much cellulose, but it also contains heavy metals effecting the quality of pulp and paper. In this research the subject of analysis includes heavy metals of cadmium, copper, zinc and iron contained in the species of eucalyptus. To analyze the heavy metals, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (SAA) of dried destruction is used. The result gained is that concentration of cadmium, copper, zinc and iron of timber is respectively 0.0251 ppm, 0.5496 ppm, 5.7460 ppm. The concentration of metal gained is still under threshold, i.e., cadmium 1-10 ppm, copper 0.1-1 ppm, zinc 10-100 ppm, and iron 100-1000 ppm. Thus, eucalyptus wood as raw material in PT Toba Lestari (TPL) Mild is guaranteed appropriately to processing of pulp and paper. | en_US |
