The palm Oil Wood impregnated with destila fume at 200°c and acrylat
acd has been prepared. The result of impregnation, in fact, can improve the
mechanical property of POW. To induce the modification of Destilated fume with
acrylat acid 0,01 % of initiator Benzoil Perokside was used.
The impregnation technic used to modify POW with modified resi is
rective impregnation, impregnation was made at altitud,!s of 2,4,6 and 8 meters
Over earth. The result of impregnation indicates that maximal specific grawity is
0,86 gr/cm2
, fracture modulus (MOR) 308,7 kg/cm2dan elasticity modulus (MOE)
57.976,3 kg/cm2 and fiber parallel creep starin is 58.98 kg/cm2
• The best result of
impregnation with Destilated fume at 200°C and modified acrylat acid is on
altitude of 6 meter, based on Indonesian National Standard (INS) about strength of
wood.
Analysis date of Payaran Electron Microscope (SEM), support of thermal
analysis, and flexibility test, indicates that impregnation can improve both
mechanical and physical properties of POW. From the result of FTIR and SEM
analysis, it can be seen that some of resin can fill some part in POW, and resin can
only interact physically with POW material during impregnation process and
analysis of preservation test by using fungi Poliporus indicates test that, in fact,
fungi cannot grow on impregnated wood.
