The plumbum pollution is one of environment pollution in every country. The
plumbum in the body will affect to the spleen and gastric. Chitosan’ is an
antioxidant that can reduce or absorb heavy metals, so the purpose of research
was determine the effect of chitosan on weight and histological of rat’s gastric,
spleen and the level of plumbum of rat's gastric that had exposed by Pb-acetate
for 7 weeks. The research has been done from January until June 2013 with
complete random design (RAL), which consist of seven (7) treatments (K=
control; Pi= Pb-acetate 40 mg; P2= Pb-acetate 40 mg and chitosan 0,5% for 5
least weeks; P3~ Pb-acetate 40 mg and chitosan 0,75% for 5 least weeks; P:
Pb-acetate 40 mg and chitosan 1% for 5 least weeks; PS= chitosan 1%; Pt
acetate acid 1%) which each treatment had 5 replications of rat. The
administration of Pb-acetate (40 mg/kgBW/day) is 0.5 ml and the concentration of
chitosan is 0,5%, 0,75% and 1% orally using a gavage needle. The result of
research showed gastric weight of rat had no significant effect (p>0.05) in each
treatment. The result of spleen weight of rat in the treatment of P1-PS increased
spleen weight was significantly (p <0.05) to control (K). The results of the level
of plumbum of rat’s gastric on PI-P4 significant effect (p <0.05) to control (K).
The administration of Ph-acetate affects the histological of rat’s gastric and
spleen that is gastric ulcer (P1 and P2) and increasing number of splenic white
pulp (PI, P2 and P3), but the administration of chitosan affects the histological of
rat's gastric (P3 and P4) and the histological of rat's spleen (P4) as protection in
chelating Pb-acetate.
