Abstract

Effectiveness of Program Implementation Day Care Services (Elderly Day Services) by the technical implementation unit (UPT) Elderly Social Services Regional Binjai and Medan.(This thesis is composed of 6 chapters, 90 pages, 36 tables, 2 charts, appendices and bibliography and other sources from the internet) From year to year life expectancy continues to increase along with improvements in quality of life and health services are also getting better. According to data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of elderly Indonesia in 2004 amounted to 16,522,311, in 2006 at 17,478,282, and in 2008 of 19,502,355 (8.55% of the total population of 228 018 .900), whereas in 2020 is estimated to number about 28 million elderly people. Alone in the province of North Sumatra, the number of elderly in 2009 showed that the magnitude of the total population in North Sumatra, which amounted to 13.2484 million people, where as many as 805 500 people (6.08%) of the total overall is categorized elderly population. Research on the effectiveness of Day Care Services Program (Elderly Day Services) by the Unit of Social Services Elderly Binjai and Field Region aims to determine how the effectiveness of the program Day Care Services (Elderly Day Service). In this case the benchmark of Day Care Services program effectiveness can be judged from the quality of activities, the quantity of activity, the impact of the activities and the timeliness of events. Program effectiveness can be scrutinized through approaches such as interviews with the elderly, and observe the implementation of the program in day care services are organized by the Social Services Unit Area Seniors Binjai and Medan. The results of the study can be concluded that the effectiveness of day care services program by the Social Services Unit Area Seniors Binjai and Medan, is effective through the calculation of several measures that have been done as seen from the quality of the program is 0.71, in terms of quantity is 0 , 59, in terms of the impact of the implementation of the program is 0.53 and in terms of time is 0.49.
