dc.description.abstractThis study aims to determine the relationship between smartphone addiction and academic procrastination in high school students in Medan City. The sample from this study amounted to 400 high school students in Medan City. In collecting samples using accidental sampling techniques with active criteria using smartphones for more than 5 hours a day. The measuring instruments used are the Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Version (SAS-SV) by (Kwon, et al., 2013) and the Academic Procrastination Scale based on the theory of Ferrari, Johnson & McCown (1995). The data were analyzed using the Pearson Correlation test and the results showed that there was a relationship between smartphone addiction and academic procrastination (p < 0.05). The relationship between these two variables is at a moderate correlation level and is positive (r = 0.541).en_US
