    Abstract

A single mother should be able to perform multiple roles, namely the role of mother as well as father’s role for their children. This means that mothers should take care of household needs, educate children and work to meet family needs. However, the difficulty in balancing the multiple roles is often become a stressor for single mothers and affects their subjective well-being conditions. This study aims to find out the subjective well-being among working single mothers. The subjects involved in this research were 90 working single mothers. The measuring instruments used in this study are subjective well-being scales which include the cognitive evaluation scale of Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and the affective evaluation scale of Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE), which has been translated into Bahasa Indonesia. Data analysis was done by using descriptive statisticsto categorize subjective well-being into low and high categories. The results showed that as many as 30% of subjects were in the high category, 26.7% of subjects were in the low category, and 43.3% of subjects could not be categorized.
