In this work processing of photodegradable plastics was studied by producing polypropylene blends containing cellulose derivative filler and FeCI3, as photosensitizer. Composition of the blends was varied from 10% to 50% of cellulose derivative fillers and 0.1% to 2% of the FeCI3, the result showed that the compatible blends was found at low cellulose derivative concentration (10% and 20%). Addition of cellulose derivative and the photosensitizer in the polypropylene matrix lowered mechanical properties of the blends. Increase of the photosensitizer concentration also accelerated the rate of photodegradation of the blends, whereas the type of the cellulose derivative did not show considerable effect on the rate of photodegradation.en_US
