Carotenoids have adsorbed from Crude Palm Oil it consist of 455 ppm carotene
with calcium polystyrene sulfonate, degree of sulfonation 27% contains of Ca
6,74. Carotenoids that adsorbed in calcium polystyrene sulfonate then desorbed
with ethanol. In this experiment amount of adsorbent varied 0.5 g; 1.0 g; 1,5 g and
volume of n-hexane varied 5 ml; 10 ml; 20 ml. The carotene content that adsorbed
in varied 0,5 g; 1.0 g; 1.5 g adsorben with 15 ml n-hexane are 359.26 ppm, 412.24
ppm and 434.82 ppm respectively, which FFA content are 4,12%, 4,07% and
3,97% respectively. Carotene content in desorption are 489.56 ppm, 608.65 ppm
and 626.28 ppm respectively, which FFA content are 3.58%, 3.77 % and 4.01%.
The carotene content that adsorbed in varied 5 ml; 10 ml; 20 ml n-hexane with 1,0
g adsorben are 443.67 ppm, 430.86 ppm and 400.25 ppm respectively, which FFA
content are 3.89%, 4.01% and 4.13% respectively. Carotene content in desorption
are 567.10 ppm, 571.53 ppm and 611.26 ppm respectively, which FFA content are
4.05%, 3.96% and 3.68%. The degree of sulfonation affected adsorption and
desorption of carotenoid process, increased of adsorben’s degree of sulfonation,
made bigger interaction of calcium and carotenoids that can increased content of
carotenoids that adsorbed.
