dc.description.abstract | Passion fruit syrup is one of the drink product that is synonymous with many
outstanding sweet flavor and consumed by the public . In the manufacturing
process , manufacturers often use artificial sweeteners to replace the natural
sugars to lower production costs . However , in one study , some artificial
sweeteners can cause bladder cancer in rats in laboratory experiments , one of
which is cyclamate . It is an artificial sweetener that is most commonly used . This
study purposed to see if the passion fruit syrup , both local and national products
on the market meet the quality standards or not . This study uses high performance
liquid chromatography ( HPLC ) , the experimental results obtained by column :
oktadesilsilana , 5 lm , 250 mm x 4 mm RP 18 ; fosfat/KH2PO4 mobile phase
buffer pH 4.5 and methanol ratio of 7:3 ; flow rate : 1 ml / min ; injection volume
: 20 mL ; and detector : UV - VIS 200 nm . From the research , cyclamate levels
obtained in passion fruit syrup is 657 mg / kg . According to ISO limit of safe
consumption of cyclamate in syrup before diluted is 1000 mg / kg and after
diluted at 6000 mg / kg , so it can be concluded that cyclamate levels meet
established quality standards . | en_US |
