dc.description.abstractA research on effect of Nb element at fuel U-Zr-Nb to density, phase and microstructure has been done. Fabrication of U-Zr-Nb alloy was doing by combining U, Zr and Nb metals by smelting techniques in the electric arc furnace smelting. In this research U-Zr-Nb alloy with varying Nb are 2%, 5% and 8%, but Zr metals remains 6%. Then, alloy was formed and cutting. Then, hardeness analyzed using a Vickers hardness testing, density analyzed using a pycnometer, phase analyzed using XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and microstructure analyzed using optical microscopy. From analyzed results that alloy which have Nb 2%, 5% and 8% is 375.6 HVN; HVN 523; 319.8 HVN, density value respective is 15,721 g / cc; 16,392 g / cc; 15,267 g / cc. αU phase at 2% Nb, βU phase at 5% Nb and γU p h ase a t 8 % N b.
