Abstract

World of children should be enjoyed with a nice atmosphere like playing and learning, but because of several factors causing these children have to work to bear the economic burden that should be the responsibility of parents. Children take any job that can make money in order to meet growing consumer needs in urban areas. One job done street children are singing and mengasong. Many intersection red light is used as a singing and sell Cigarette, wipes, canndy and aqua in one of the city field used is the intersection of the red light area of Simpang Post This study used a qualitative method using research subjects. Informants in this study as many as 5 people, they are is 3 children working as mengasong with age 16-17 years and 2 children work as singers with age 12-13 years with different family backgrounds. The purpose of this study was to determine and obtain an overview of the socio-economic conditions of street children in Simpang Post Medan. Data was collected through literature study, observation and interviews are free. Income earned by the street children are 10,000-50,000 thousand in one day the income is used for oneself and in part again to be given to the parents. Interaction with parents and siblings rarely done due to busy parents work for a living and you are still at school or work, while the interaction with peers is done by playing like playing football and game online
