Abstract

When there is a disaster, children are prioritized getting special treatment after the disaster which must be based on the principle of the protection of children. Children must be basic need such as food and clothing, emergency, education, health hand the handling of the trauma or psychosocial. Through the handling of the child get out of prolonged trauma and can life norm that child is play and learn. This study aims to determine how far the handling of child victims of the eruption of Sinabung Mount based child protection in post UKA 1 Ketaren Village District of Kabanjahe Regency of Karo. This type of research is classified as a type of descriptive research that aims to describe the handling of child victims of the eruption of Sinabung Mount. The samples in this study were 20 children victims of the eruption of Sinabung Mount. While the techniques of data analysis in this study uses a single table with the aim to refine these data. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and interviews. Conclusions obtained through analysis of the data that the treatment of children in terms of child protection based minimum food and clothing needs are met children, in terms of pediatric emergency education students can obtain the right back to the existing methods, in terms of child health can be handled properly, and in terms of the handling of the trauma through psychosocial children can slowly be cheerful, smiling and playing like a normal child.
