dc.description.abstractThis study discusses the background of the Chinese Ethnic living in Sei Putih Timur II Village and the socio-economic life of the Chinese Ethnic, the socio-economic interactions of the Chinese Ethnic and the obstacles faced by the Chinese Ethnic in 1975-1998. This study aims to reveal the socio-economic life of the Chinese Ethnic in Sei Putih Timur II Village, explain the interactions of the Chinese Ethnic with other communities, and the obstacles they faced in the 1975-1998 period. To explain this, it is explained how the ethnic Chinese background settled in Sei Putih Timur II Village, that is, after the Chinese left the plantations and chose to become traders, the majority of the Chinese Ethnic who were in Sei Putih Timur II Village survived by opening businesses as traders, then explained how the interaction of the Chinese Ethnic in trade, to what are the obstacles faced in social and economic life in the research area. This study uses the historical method, starting with the topic. Furthermore, heuristics (source gathering), the author uses primary and secondary sources in the form of literature studies and interviews. The second stage is verification. Then, the verification results are interpreted to produce a historical narrative. The last is historiography, reconstructing the historical facts that have been collected. With this research, the authors obtained a result which revealed how the Socio-Economic Life of the Chinese Ethnic in Sei Putih Timur II Village in 1975-1998. They maintain and carry out the traditions brought by their ancestors in an effort to maintain good kinship relations. The social interaction that exists is inclusive because the majority of economic activities in Sei Putih Timur II Village are economic activities in the area of traditional markets. Initially they ran trade affairs to survive and they expanded the scope of trade in traditional markets that were growing. Even though they appear to be aggressive in carrying out their economic life, the relationship between the Chinese ethnic community and with other ethnic communities is well established. Social solidarity leads to a positive process as an example of community activities during Chinese Ethnic celebrations which share sustenance regardless of ethnicity.en_US
