dc.description.abstractABSTRACT This study was conducted to analyze the factors affecting the level of the poverty population in North Sumatra in 2013 and to test the effectiveness of multiple linear regression method to analyze the incidence of poverty. The analysis showed that the variables of area, population density, unemployment and educational levels simultaneously positive and significant impact on the well-being, which means that poverty levels may be on the wane. Obtained coefficient of determination (R2 ) of 54.76% with a significant level 5%, which means that these variables influence the poverty level population while the remaining 45.23% is influenced by other factors.
