dc.description.abstract | Research on the use of Agave Angustifolia Haw Fiber and Banana Peels as Raw
Material for Making Paper has been done. Pulping process was conducted with
chemical alkali methods aiming to obtain an alternative raw material for paper and
determine the influence of variations in the composition of a mixture of Agave
Angustifolia Haw pulp and banana peels. Variations of the mixture, namely: (0 :
100)%; (20 : 80)%; (40 : 60)%; (60 : 40)%; (80 : 20)%; (100 : 0)%. Physical
properties and mechanical testing is done is to measure the thickness of paper and
paper mass, calculate grammage and density, to test the tensile resistance and
tearing resistance test. Agave Angustifolia Haw fibers and cooked banana peels
2,5% NaOH at a temperature of 110oC, then performed using H2O2 bleaching
process, and then dried. Once the pulp is mixed according to the composition of
the mixture has been determined. The best composition of a mixture of Agave
Angustifolia Haw pulp and banana peels that is at Agave Angustifolia Haw pulp
100% and 0% banana peels in which the composition has a grammage 92,0 gr/m2
and tearing resistance 1331,16 mN in accordance with standart SNI 14-0115-1998
as kraft paper for food wrapping with grammage value of 90 gr/m2
and min
tearing resistance 1123 mN. | en_US |
