A research has done of the synthesis and characterization of hydroxyapatite (HA)
from clamshell wastes (Anadara antiquata). This study aims to determine the
characteristics of HA synthesized from clamshell wastes (Anadara antiquata).
Synthesis of hydroxyapatite is done by using wet methods with precursor Ca(OH)2
and H3PO4. Precipitate of HA was sintering with temperature variations are
700oC, 800oC, 900oC, 1000oC dan 1100oC. Characterization of functional groups
of HA by using FT-IR, characterization of Crystal structure HA by using XRD and
characterization of morphology HA by using SEM-EDX. The characterization
results indicate that the formation of HA is best at temperature sinter 900oC. FT IR test results indicate that there is a functional group OH on wave number
3570.91 cm-1
and 3497.13 cm-1
, PO4
3-
groups contained in the wave number
1042.24 cm-1
and 945.47 cm-1
. XRD test results indicate that HA Produced is not
pure, because there are other compounds that dominate. Size of crystal HA is
nano. SEM test results of particle morphology is round-shaped grains
agglomerated. EDX test results showed the ratio of Ca / P is 3,59. The ratio of Ca
/ P is large than ratio of Ca/P for pure HA with value 1.67. This is caused by
dominated Ca in sample HA.
