Kajian Aktivitas Penghuni di Ruang Publik pada Perumahan Terencana di Kota Medan

Abstract

All human in their life will never be separated from a vessel called the environment. Environment is a place that can accommodate human’s undertaken activities. Furthermore, the environment has an important meaning in forming human’s behavior. People’s lifestyle and behavior that conducted by humans can also be influenced by the environment that is around. If the environment is good, will give a good impact on the users. Meanwhile, if the environment is bad, will create a negative effect on the users. Activities conducted by humans in an environment definitely has meaning and purpose to be achieved by the human, either for their own benefit or for others. The meaning of human activities was divided into 10 subvariables, which is the meaning of the activities of self-direction, stimulation, hedonism, achievement, power, security, conformity, tradition, benevolence and universalism. The method that used in this research is qualitative method. Qualitative methods done by observing the activity in public space that carried out by the residents of the planned housing in the city of Medan. Then forwarded to the key informant interviews as a supporter of this research in determining the meaning of the activities that occurs in public spaces residential. The results of this research showed that the activities with the meaning of hedonism is the most dominant activities carried out by residents of the housing on small residential groups, medium residential groups, and large residential groups. Activity with the meaning of benevolence is an activity that most rarely seen in each group of residential.
