dc.description.abstract | This writing is entitled Double Burden of Women as Parking Attendants in Medan City. The purpose of writing this thesis is to describe the life of women parking attendants in carrying out their roles as housewives and workers.
The method used in this study is a qualitative method and the data used in this thesis are data obtained from observations and interviews. In addition, this study also uses secondary data obtained from books, journals, and the internet.
The results of the study explain how women parking attendants in the city of Medan carry out two roles at once, namely women acting as housewives and as parking workers/parking attendants. Women who carry out their double burden as parking attendants cannot be separated from helping to meet the economic needs of their families, even though these needs are not met significantly because the wages they receive are relatively low. Bearing a double burden as a parking attendant is certainly not easy to do because of pressure from the environment. Then by carrying out the double burden as well, time to gather with family especially with husband and children is reduced, as a result communication does not work properly. Even though these women parking attendants have been doing their jobs for quite a long time, this is supported because there are social networks in their work environment that make them feel comfortable and encourage them to be enthusiastic about working. By carrying out this double burden, the women parking attendants try to divide their time in each of their roles. | en_US |
