Diabetes mellitus is a disease caused by impaired secretion and production of insulin by the pancreatic β-cells, impaired blood glucose uptake by muscle cells and liver cells, or excessive glucose production from the liver. These disorders lead to glucose in the blood can not be completely distributed to the cells and organs of the body, so that the levels of glucose in the blood will increase. Treatment of diabetes mellitus can be implemented with the primary therapy is by implementing diet, regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle, in addition to therapy with oral antidiabetic medication or insulin Applying directly. The use of oral antidiabetic in a relatively long period of time also has considerable side effects. The use of traditional medicine with natural materials is an alternative that is often done. One natural ingredient that is often used is the Undur undur (Myrmeleon sp.). The research was carried out experimentally in order to find out whether Undur undur (Myrmeleon sp.) can lower blood glucose levels in diabetic rats. Preliminary test conducted by Oral Glucose Tolerance Test was followed by detemrining the decrease in blood glucose levels by inducing male rats with alloxan 150 mg/kg bw intraperitoneally to obtain diabetic rats. Diabetic rats were divided into five groups, each group consisted of five male. The first group was the control goup who were given CMC 1%, the second group with metformin 35 mg/kg bw. The third group with Undur undur dose administration of 150 mg/kg bw, the fourth group was giver Undur undur dose of 300 mg / kg bw and the fifth Soup was given Undur undur with a dose 450 ml/kg bw. Test substance was administered once a day. Blood was drawn from the tail vein in mice every second day in a row to measured blood glucose levels by glukometer. Decrease in blood glucose levels compared with the control group and the drug group comparison. The data obtained were analyzed by Anova test, followed by Duncan difference test. Giving Undur undur with a dose of 150, 300, and 450 mg/kg bw gives the effect of decreasing blood glucose levels. The results of the statistical test (α = 0.05) which suggests that the blood glucose levels of mice with Undur undur dose administration of 300 mg/kg bw did not give a clear difference with blood glucose levels metformin given 35 mg/kg bw, but significantly different blood glucose levels Undur undur by administering a dose of 150 and 450 mg/kg bw. Blood glucose levels of mice with Undur undur dose administration of 150 mg/kg bw did not differ significantly with blood glucose levels Undur undur given 450 mg/kg bw, but significantly different blood glucose control mice given only CMC. Undur undur at a dose of 300 mg/kg bw giving blood glucose levels drop more quickly when compared with other doses. Decrease in blood glucose levels was greatest at day 12. On day-24 Undur undur dose administration of 300 mg/kg bw and metformin 35 mg/kg bw, blood glucose levels have become normal.en_US
