dc.description.abstractSteel slag is a by product from PT. Growth Sumatra Industry, a steel melting industry which is a located in Medan-Belawan. This product contains Silica as a function to improve the interface between aggregate with cement paste and Ferro as a function to add weight of steel slag material. Utilization of steel slag as aggregate in concrete technology turned out to produce a greater compressive strength than the compressive strength of 22.5 MPa plan. Improving the quality of steel slag concrete especially bond strength between paste and aggregates can occur because of steel slag aggregate sementik contain compounds that can chemically react with the compound of Calcium Hydroxide result of hydration reaction of cement and water. In this study four combinations of aggregate in the concrete mix concrete 1 (normal) (fine aggregate sand without steel slag, coarse aggregate gravel), concrete 2 (fine aggregate sand + 10% slag, coarse aggregate gravel), concrete 3 (fine aggregate sand + 25% steel slag, gravel coarse aggregate) and concrete 4 (fine aggregate sand + 50% steel slag, coarse aggregate gravel). From the results of compressive strength at 28 days, concrete 1 gives the values of compressive strength 24.4 MPa to 23.97 MPa for cubes and cylinders, concrete compressive strength 2 gives values for cubes Mapa 25.54 and 17.19 MPa for the cylinder, 3 give the concrete compressive strength of 28.83 MPa to 26.75 MPa for the cube and cylinder, while the concrete 4 gives the value of compressive strength 28.3 MPa to 28.01 MPa for the cube and cylinder.en_US
