dc.description.abstractHas done research on the effect of detention time and temperature on tensile strength of carbon steel hardness NS 1045 with hardening temperature 830°C using cooling media NaCl 30%. The results obtained after testing is that the tensile strength and hardness values change with changes in holding time temperature. For original sample average value of tensile strength of 710.4 MPa and the average value of hardness is 22.9 HRc. At holding time temperature of 10 minutes to 40 minutes average value of tensile strength increases directly proportional to the increase the holding time temperature. The value is 1154.7; 1285.03; 1324.9; 1354.7 MPa and decreased at the time of the holding time temperature of 50 minutes is 884 , 87 MPa. While the average value of hardness at a holding time temperature increased from 10 to 20 minutes additional time is directly proportional to the holding time temperature is 51.8: 60.7 HRc. But decreased at a holding time temperature of 30 to 50 minutes is 60.6: 57.2: 54.9 HRc. From the research results can be seen that the maximum tensile strength of carbon steel NS-1045 occurred at holding time temperature of 40-minute is 1285.03 MPa and the hardness maximum at holding time temperature of 20-minute is 60.7 HRc.en_US
