The model for the sustainability of higher education institutions, especially private
universities, has not yet been found, but it is urgently needed so that private
universities can increase competitiveness and grow better than their competitors.
The purpose of this study was to determine the influential variables related to the
sustainability of higher education with the quality of higher education as the
intervening variable. The research was conducted by direct field survey and
distributing questionnaires to respondents online. The analytical method used in
data processing is descriptive analysis and Structural Equation Model (SEM).
As much as 65% of education quality variables can be influenced by governance
variables (X3), operational variables (X2), and administrative variables (X6)
together. The influence of increased governance factors will contribute 38.6%,
operational factors increase will contribute 32.7% while increasing administrative
factors will contribute 17.7% to improving the quality of private higher education.
The coefficient of the sustainability variable of private universities is influenced by
the cooperation variable (Y4) of 19.1%, the increased education quality factor will
contribute 27.7%, the increased student and alumni factors will contribute 22.0%,
while the increased reputation factor will contribute by 18.2%. The coefficient of
determination for Administration latent variable is 0.560, Sustainability latent
variable is 0.629. The coefficient of determination for the latent variable of
Education Quality is 0.650, for the operational latent variable is 0.670, and the
coefficient of determination for the latent variable Governance is 0.505.
The university's performance that has been obtained can be used as a marketing
strategy through promotional programs to gain public trust in universities, by
designing promotional programs to shape the perception of quality educational
services through an effective and efficient information system that makes it easier
for the public to find all the information needed.
